Senior Machine Learning Research Engineer
As our Senior Machine Learning Research Engineer, Jim leverages machine learning algorithms and techniques to help Lirio drive positive behavior change. He has a master’s in machine learning and artificial intelligence from Stanford University and has worked with machine learning in a variety of academic and industry roles. Jim brings extreme talent and experience to the team, as well as a great enthusiasm for exploring Lirio’s unique dataset!

Favorite artist: “Vulfpeck, Stevie Wonder, the Police, Disney songs, Calypso musicians like Lord Kitchener and David Rudder.”
Favorite thing as a child: “Legos (including programming Lego Mindstorms robots to compete), reading, origami, soccer, rock climbing.”
Special hobbies/interests: “In college I joined a steel pan ensemble and performed with them for three years, including one year as the group’s music director. We performed a combination of calypso (Trinidadian folk music), soca (Trinidadian pop music), and American pop covers. I’ve also performed with a large pan ensemble in the NYC Panorama steel pan competition.”
Location: “Grew up in Chicago, IL and Oak Ridge, TN. Went to school in the Bay Area. Worked for a year and a half in Atlanta, GA. Now living in Seattle, WA.”
Other: “I have a cat named Moby, who my girlfriend and I adopted when she was 4 weeks old. I’ve been growing my hair out since 2007, and it sometimes gets patted down in airports.”
