Dennis helps Lirio deliver quality software by applying scientific processes to exploratory testing, functional testing, and test automation. He advocates for software development best practices and collaborates with our Software Developers, Cloud Engineers, and Data Scientists to optimize our solutions for our clients and their customers/patients. Dennis is a Certified Scrum Master (CSM) with the Scrum Alliance.

Mac or PC: “PC—Got to go with PC because PC games are awesome.”

Favorite artist: “Lake Street Dive, Blue Mafia, Dan Tyminski, Michael Cleveland and Flamekeeper, Freddie King, Howlin’ Wolf, Sarah Jarosz, The Guess Who, Nobuo Uematsu.”

Favorite thing as a child: “As a kid, I was fascinated by all things related to space exploration. In elementary school, I would always check out books related to the planets (there were 9 back then) and the Voyager and Viking missions.”

Special hobbies/interests: “I am a stage manager for bluegrass music at the Earl Park Fall Festival in Earl Park, Indiana. The festival happens over Labor Day weekend and has been happening for over 40 years. My grandfather was one of the founding board members of the festival and after his passing, I began to get more involved. Additionally, for the last couple of years, I have been playing ice hockey and traveled to tournaments in Louisville, KY and Nashville, TN. I’ve been playing center position mostly, but now I got some goalie equipment and giving that a try.”

Location: Knoxville, TN. “I grew up in a small town: Fowler, Indiana. After getting my B.S. in Computer Science at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, I worked for Health Care Service Corporation in Chicago, IL. After two years in Chicago, I moved to Knoxville and have been here for five years.”

Other: “I have a dog named Dusty. He is either eating trash, barking at birds, or sleeping (I think he can do all three at once in his dreams). I also have been doing game development with Unibear Studio and we have been working on several projects in our free time. I’m a conference speaker and have spoken in Louisville, KY, Knoxville, TN, Huntsville, AL, and Murfreesboro, TN. I also built and maintain earlparkfallfestival.com, bluegrassjam.com, and my blog dennis-stepp.com.”
